Properties

Here is the list of equipment used in a series of Reog Ponorogo performance.
For your decoration at home, we also provide these properties either in-scale or real size. Please use the Contact Us section for further notice.

 Blangkon on the left is used on the head as a hat for the musician that playing the music during the show. It could be distinguished from any other blangkon especially from Central Java and any other places in Indonesia for its own unique pattern and sewing.
It is already pre-shaped rounded fitted to a man's head. Size is vary from a child to an adult size.





Udheng on right side has the same function as Blangkon, only it is not pre-shaped as Blangkon or a hat. It made from a black sheets with white printing pattern along side, and has the unique installation before someone can use it.
The sheets should be covered along the man's head lining until it feels fitted to the user, and ended up with making the knots on the back. Note that the white printing pattern should stay on the side lining, while the rest of sheets after knots will represent the nobility of the user.






On the left is Baju Penadon, or Penadon Suit. It is wore by the master of the Warok. It has a great color combination that it has red on the inside and pure black on the outside. The user wore Udheng on the top.









On the right side is Baju Perawit, or the musician suit. It has an unique-stripping pattern, combination of dark brown, green and black lining. The characteristic of the fabric is not too soft, for it can hold the cold climate and strong breeze. On the top they wore a Blangkon.







Here is the most distinguished suit of the nation, Baju Lorek Warok, or Warok Stripped Suit. Even without recalling a name, someone must have known this as a property of Reog Ponorogo. Made of common cotton fabric with its unique red and white stripe. For a well-acknowledgement, it has a printed images of Singo Barong, the main character of Reog Ponorogo.






A furry Pants on the side, and it is black. Wore by the Warok, it has two form in length of the leg. one is 3/4 length or a bit under the knee, and 7/8 length or almost reaching the ankle. The short one usually worn by the little dancers or child that also does the acrobatic scenes, but sometime the adults dancer would wear it too just for the ease of doing the acrobatics solo. And the longest one usually wore by the Singo Barong, the one that carry the Lion Mask or Dadak Merak with it's own teeth only.




As no button required for Warok black trouser, this is the best companion for it. Called Kolor, or Tie, it has similar function to button that is to strengthen the Warok trouser in case of slipping under. Made from cotton fabric, it is distinguished by the accessories on the both knot with red color in contrast.








And, the main spot has always been this Singo Barong or Dadak Merak that represent the whole idea of this art performance. Weighing at around fifty-kilos and don't forget to hold it up straight by your teeth only- it's made from real peacock feather and lion skin on the face.
Usually the Guest of Honor in the event has the privilege to sit on the head while it dancing-you wouldn't dare to imagine how your neck can restrain this.
